Hello!

You can call me Geekie Momma.

For those of you who have not seen the Geekie Family Blog homepage I am a single mom who is proud to call herself a geek and is very proud to be raising my son, Geekie Boy, in the many ways of the geek. (You can see his bog by clinking on his name.) I have considered myself a geek for the vast majority of my life, but I love so many different things it is hard to limit myself to just one fandom. Here, in no particular order, is just a taste of the various things that I enjoy.

  • Doctor Who (both classic and new)
  • Anime (Cowboy Bebop, DeathNote, Studio Ghibli, Sword Art Online, Dragon Ball, Dr. Stone, Fairy Tail and too many more to keep listing)
  • Lord of the Rings and, of course, The Hobbit
  • Dune (classic, mini series and new)
  • Video games (I am not as much of a gamer as my son, but I do enjoy playing some games. I am quite proud of the fact that even though I am not a huge gamer I was the one who taught my son that you do NOT play as Zelda when playing the Legend of Zelda games. You play as Link and Zelda is the princess. )
  • Movies and TV shows of all kinds! (I have a huge personal collection that I enjoy pretty much on a daily basis. One of my favorite things to do pre-COVID was to regularly host all day movie marathon parties complete with food, theme related games and prizes. This is something that I am really looking forward to doing again at some point in the near future.)

My son and I have been wanting to create something to celebrate our geekiness and hopefully create meaning full connections with others people who share our love of all things geek. While we will each have our own blogs we also have a central blog that I mentioned before called The Geekie Family Blog. In my personal blog I am hoping to share and explore the various fandoms that I enjoy, how I enjoy them and the various things that they make me think about or feel. I am also hoping to create a section of entries directed toward geek minded parents or for NG (non-geek) parents of geeky kids. Honestly though I have so many different hopes and dreams for my blog and our family blog that I have no idea where this is all going to end up. Some of these hopes/dreams are probably a bit unrealistic in the immediate future, but I look forward to reaching those goals someday.

I hope that you will consider joining me, and my son, as we go on this adventure through the many exciting fandoms and help us to create a community of geeks, friends and families!
